Third Day Last updated: Aug.21.2008 05:06First of all I want to mention boomerangs.tv where you can see high resultion versions of the videos from this site. I will post a permanent link under the daily video as soon as I can.
The third day saw a BIG push of the swiss Skandal Team. They won Super Catch, Endurance and Accuracy to end up on second place overall. Well done my Swiss friends! The B-motions could keep their first place from the previous day and are 7.5 points ahead. Thats hard to make up. Rad Revolution is on third and The Confluence had a bad day.
We had anything today, sun, wind, rain, heavy rain, light rain, drizzle. The morning was fairly nice but then the rain set in. The positive side of it was that the wind died down. so wind wise it became easier.
There was a rather unfortunate accident in Super Catch where a thrower of the womens team was injured. I am not going to release her name online. According to a good informed source, she has now at least beaten Frido Frost for once: He only broke one bone at a world cup while she broke two.
The highlight of the day was most definitly team relay. I (and I plan to take all the credit for it, whether I deserve it or not) suggested early when we were discussing the scheduling on to stack up the pairings according to previous ranking as opposed to randomness. So the 17th team ran against the 18th, and the first ran against the second. This made for some very exiting and high adrenaline action. I don't remember team relay being that exiting to watch, ever. I was on the circle where the Swiss Skandals ran against Rad Revolution. The rad americans where the faster runners but each race was very close. The swiss were lagging behind by probably less than a second for the whole duration trying to close the gap but just not making it quite. The last two throwers to run in the circle were practially throwing at the same time, and their booms came done close, the swiss guy caught his boom, the American did not. So the swiss could take the lead, for the first time in the event, bringing it home. Overall, the Germans had a better time so the swiss ended up second. But it was such a rush to see them run and throw. Excellent boomerang competition, right there.
